The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) uses the Texas Online Private Security (TOPS) system to manage applications for security officer licenses. As a representative of the Texas Defense Force Security online school, we will guide you through the application process.
As a prospective security officer in the state of Texas, you'll need to satisfy the fingerprint requirement part of the licensing process. This step is crucial to ensure that only qualified and trustworthy individuals work in the private security industry. In this article, we'll guide you through the fingerprinting process, including what to expect and how to prepare.

At TXDF Schools, we're committed to providing high-quality online training solutions for security professionals across Texas. To expand our reach and offerings, we're seeking training partners who share our passion for delivering exceptional training experiences. Are you training partner material?
We've identified two key partnership opportunities that can help us achieve this goal:
Classroom Partner
One of the requirements for Level 3 certification is a 10-hour in-person training session. A qualified training partner can provide this essential training in their corner of the state.
To become a Classroom Partner, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- You or your instructors must be a licensed level 3 classroom and firearms instructor
- You must have a physical location for in-person training sessions
- A commitment to hold a regularly scheduled 10-hour class (assuming you have students signed up)
Students come to us for the online classroom portion of the course, and they choose a classroom partner near their location. If that's you, they come to you for the in-person requirement and range qualification.
We believe this can be accomplished in 1 (long) day and recommend $100 per student (all yours, we don't want anything but your partnership).
Curriculum Partner
In addition to our standard Level 3 curriculum, we can customize our program to provide additional training content that meets your training requirements. This might include specialized courses on topics such as reporting procedures, radio usage, or emergency response.
To become a Curriculum Partner, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- You must have a security company license
- Your training content must be complete enough that we can build an online module for it (a Powerpoint with notes would do)
- A commitment to direct all of your officer training through our online program.
Becoming training partner with us, you'll gain access to our online platform and resources, as well as opportunities for professional development and networking.
Benefits of Partnership
Becoming a Training Partner with TXDF Schools offers numerous benefits, including:
- Increased revenue through training services
- Enhanced credibility through association with a reputable online training platform
- Opportunities for professional development and networking
If you're interested in becoming a Training Partner with us, please submit an application form and provide the necessary documentation (e.g. instructor certifications, state licenses). We'll be in touch to discuss the next steps.
Thank you for considering partnership opportunities with TXDF Schools!
